Axolotl Eggs

Today we arrived at school, and saw lots of white round things in the Axolotl tank!

Mrs Strange was very excited when she realised they were Axolotl eggs!!!!

The eggs are white.
We did some research and found out that the reason they are white is because one of the Axolotls is albino or white, so she must be the mother.
We had to take the eggs out of the tank with the adults else they would eat them, we could see some in one of their mouths already.

So we are presuming we will get white axolotl babies.

We estimated there are 300 eggs. Mekalo thought that the easiest way to count all of the eggs was to count in twos. He was right. Then we grouped the eggs into 50 and realised there were 6 groups of 50.
We also learnt that the eggs should hatch out in 2 to 3 weeks so that will be in the last week of August.
We will then have to feed the babies brine shrimp eggs.
So there is going to be lots of baby activity in Room One in the next few weeks.
